Let me introduce myself. I’m a mum, a nan, and a great-gran living in Swansea, South Wales, UK. My little business is called ‘Nanna B’s’ and I make customised and personalised Keepsake and ‘memory’ items, from clothes that are precious to you.

For example,

• Memory quilts from baby clothes, or from a favourite item belonging to someone who has passed away, ensuring your memories are preserved and live on for generations.

• Wall Hangings, made from precious clothing of someone you may have lost.

• Dolls’ clothes from a child’s favourite dress, nightie or PJs that he or she has outgrown.

All of your items are treated with the love and care they deserve.

The Keepsakes are all handmade by me, and I try to use all of the most special parts of the clothing you send me, so that you receive the item that means the most to you.

 

QUILTS

These are backed either with a large piece of fabric you send me – perhaps a special duvet cover or sheet– or with fabric I supply. They have a layer of wadding inside to make them perfect for cuddling up to, and they will be a treasured keepsake for years to come.

 

Babies & Children Memory Quilts

These are made from some of the most cherished of your little one's outgrown clothes and are a great way to remember your child's baby or toddler years.

 

Loved-Ones Memory Quilts

These are made from precious clothing of someone you may have lost. That may be some shirts, pyjamas, T-shirts, trousers or ties, and sometimes a mixture of all.

 

Sizes (Please note – sizes are approximate and may vary by a centimetre or two)

For Cot & Standard sized quilts I use 4" squares; for the large size I use 5" squares. However, if you would prefer me to use a different size square you can let me know. (4" minimum)

 

Cot size

40"x 32"  (100cm x 80cm)  

10 squares by 8 squares = 80 x 4" squares

 

Standard size

48" x40" (120 cm x 100 cm);

12 squares by 10 squares = 120 x

 

Large size

60" x 50" 150cm x 120cm;

12 squares by 10 squares = 120 x 5" squares

 

If I find that you haven’t sent enough babygros/clothes for the size you order, I can add plain squares of a similar fabric if you so wish. You can let me know in the Special Instructions at the checkout, or in a note with your order, but I will always contact you to check before I cut anything.

While our Memory Quilts can be machine washed at 30 degrees, we would recommend that they are hand washed and dried naturally. Do not tumble dry.

 

WALL HANGINGS

These are made from precious clothing of someone you may have lost. That may include some shirts, pyjamas, T-shirts, trousers or ties, and sometimes a mixture of all. Ties will usually be made into a ‘Dresden Plate’ shape (see my pictures) and the background may be a patchwork-effect, a pillow-case you’d like to use, or another design we can discuss. Wall hangings will not include a bar or hanging rope, but will have a space where a rod or a bar can be inserted.

 

 

How It Works

1. Decide what items you'd like to send me, choosing the items that are sentimental to you and the ones you really want to treasure. The only thing to bear in mind are thick materials like leather and denim can be tricky to work with; thin materials like chiffon may be delicate and affect the durability of the finished item. And try not to mix heavy and very lightweight fabrics as that won’t give a pleasing effect. Please contact me if you have any queries about this.

2. Personalise your order online and checkout when ready

3. Once you’ve placed your order, you’ll receive an email telling you how to send me your clothes. If you have a lot of special requests and additions then, depending on the complexity, I may contact you to request an additional payment to cover the cost of making these.  

4. Post your items to me

5. I will let you know when the clothing arrives. Standard turnaround is approximately 4 weeks, but in most cases I can upgrade to an express 1 week turnaround. I  will take excellent care of your items and I will contact you if we have any questions regarding your order whilst I am making it.

6. Receive your keepsake. It will be sent in a cotton dust bag for protection and storage once you receive the item. Make sure to send me a picture of your finished piece with a review for my gallery!

7. Remnants of fabric from your items are kept until the item is dispatched; should you require any pieces sent back then please let me know. Any full items  of clothing not used will automatically be sent back with your finished quilt unless you tell me not to.

 

NB If you are not satisfied that your finished product is not as requested, and if your request is a reasonable one, I can refund you a proportion of your payment. But I will not be able to return the clothes you have sent me as they will have been used to make your item.

 

KEEPSAKE DOLLS CLOTHES

If you have a dress, a shirt , perhaps some PJs, that your little one has outgrown, I can make it into an outfit for a favourite doll or teddy.

You can tell me the size of doll, and whether it’s a baby doll or a ‘teenage’ one. You can also give me an idea as to the style of dress or outfit you’d like – I will offer some patterns and you can choose.

 

How it works

1. You choose the dress (or other garment) you’d like turned into a doll’s outfit.

2. You choose from the various drop-down options, and place your order.

3. You can add more information if you wish, and you can also send me a picture of the doll (or teddy) you’d like the clothes for.

4. Post your item/s to me

5. I will let you know when they arrive. Standard turnaround is approximately 4 weeks, but in most cases I can upgrade to an express 1 week turnaround. I will contact you if we have any questions regarding your order whilst making.

6. Receive your dolls’ clothes.

 

 

NB If you are not satisfied that your finished product is as requested, and your complaint is reasonable, I can refund you at least a proportion of your payment providing you return the item to me. But I will not be able to return the clothes you have sent me as they will have been used to make your item.
